The Center for Tropical Medicine, faculty of Medicine Universita Gadjah Mada was established in 1996 through the university Research Graduate Education (URGE) Project of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Indonesia. The vision of the Center is to be an internationally recognized center for research and training in tropical diseases. In line with this vision, the Center has dual missions to develop new knowledge, tools, intervention, strategies for tropical disease control and to strengthen the capacity of human resources in disease endemic areas.
The Center maintains an extensive portfolio of collaboration with reputable national and international partners which ensure relevance and quality of research and training. In 2013, the center carried out 18 projects, of which 14 were supported by international funding (e.g. WHO, European Commission , Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation, USAID, Belgium-DGDC, USAID, Kirby Institute, APMEN) and one was supported by an Indonesian Philanthropic Foundation (i.e. Tahija Foundation).
As one of the leading institution for research and training in Indonesia, the Center for Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has organized various international research and communicable diseases control program related courses. The Center has been designated as the TBCTA Regional Training Center for the Asian Region since 2008. The Since 2010 the Center has also been designated as Regional Training Center for South East Asia Region supported by WHO-TDR, with a mandate to improve research capacity skills of researchers in the region.

With the experienced of trainers and researchers, we are now offering Regional Course on Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), Good Health Research Practice (GHRP) and Implementation Research (IR).
