In a proactive step towards enhancing clinical laboratory practices, a Training of Trainers (ToT) program on Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) was conducted, aiming to upgrade knowledge and skill of current and future trainers to disseminate GCLP principles effectively.
The ToT program, held recently from 18th to 19th December 2023, focused on not only imparting theoretical understanding but also equipping trainers with the methodologies and tools required to engage and train future GCLP practitioners effectively. It emphasized the critical role of trainers in cascading GCLP principles to uphold integrity, reliability, and ethical conduct in clinical research.
Participants from various institutions, including Regional Training Center (RTC) Gadjah Mada University, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Udayana Bali, and the Faculty of Postgraduate Medicine, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (FPM-KGUMSB), convened for the training. Notably, FPM-KGUMSB had previously undergone the GCLP course conducted by RTC UGM in Bhutan in 2019, adding a diverse perspective to the training cohort.
The agenda for the Training of Trainers encompassed strategic planning for the next phase of the GCLP program. Key actions discussed included conducting comprehensive needs assessments, analyzing feedback from previous sessions, implementing robust evaluation frameworks, and fostering ongoing feedback loops for continuous improvement. Additionally, the establishment of a centralized repository for updated resources, tools, and reference materials relevant to GCLP was highlighted as crucial for sustained learning beyond the training period.
By integrating advanced content, innovative delivery methods, continuous evaluation, and adaptability, the next phase of the GCLP ToT program aims to be more impactful, relevant, and beneficial to trainers and their trainees in the clinical laboratory setting. This forward-looking approach underscores a commitment to excellence in clinical research practices and sets the stage for continued advancements in laboratory standards and protocols.
The GCLP ToT program stands as a testament to the dedication of healthcare professionals towards ensuring the highest standards of quality and ethics in clinical research, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and public health initiatives. As the landscape of clinical research evolves, initiatives like the GCLP ToT program play a pivotal role in shaping the future of laboratory practices worldwide.
